Library FAQs

1. Go to SUSS library's Databases page at https://libguides.suss.edu.sg/az/databases

2. Select "eBooks (ProQuest eBook Central)" and click 'Search'

3. If you encounter the login screen, please sign-in as follows:

• For Staff: UserID@uninet.edu.sg

• For Student, Associates and Alumni: UserID@suss.edu.sg

4.  You will be led to the homepage of Proquest EBook Central. You should see "remotexs" in the URL and the authentication "Singapore University of Social Sciences". Do not click "Sign in". 

5. At the Proquest search page, key in your search terms and click on "Search". 

6. Key in your search keyword e.g. “Young Adults and Active Citizenship : Towards Social Inclusion Through Adult”.  Click on “SEARCH”.

7. At the “Search Results” page, there will be filters to refine your search results.  These filters are on the left.

For example, if you click the “Owned and subscribed to by my library”, you will see only subscribed contents in the search results. Alternatively, you can also filter by Subject and Author. 

8. Besides a "Basic Search", you can also conduct an 'Advanced Search'.

9. After clicking the “Search” button, you will see a results page. Click on the title which you wish to see or click the “Read Online” button at the side of the title.

 10. Select "Download Book" from the Book Details Page or the Online Reader on Ebook Central.

  11. The default loan length is 7 days. Click Confirm to proceed.   

12. Select Download the app. You will need the code to register your device.

 13. Select a download option for your device.

 14. Sign in to and use the Ebook Central Reader App

 Open the app and enter the code to register your device. 

 15. On your bookshelf you can see the books you have selected. On the top right corner, you have features for viewing the books as thumbnails or in a list. You can also change interface language. For each book you can view Book Details and Download. For a downloaded book you can click Read.  

  16. On the book pages you can use the features on the top right corner to change font size. You can also open the Book Details pane, where you have access to details about the book, features for searching the book and table of contents.

 17. The "Currently Reading" feature will be available when you have started reading a book. From here you can return to where you left the book.
