How do I access Proquest eBook Central?

  1. Go to SUSS library's Databases page at https://libguides.suss.edu.sg/az/databases

  1. In the 'Type' dropdown box select 'eBook Collection' and click 'Search'

  1. If you encounter the following login screen, select “Student, Associate or Faculty/ Staff”.

Username: SUSS Username (Leave out @suss.edu.sg) Password: SUSS password (same as Canvas, MyMail)

  1.  You will be led to the homepage of Proquest EBook Central. You should see "remotexs" in the URL and the authentication "Singapore University of Social Sciences". Do not click "Sign in".

Searching 

  1. At the Proquest search page, key in your search terms and click on "Search". 

  1. Key in your search keyword e.g. “Young Adults and Active Citizenship : Towards Social Inclusion Through Adult”.  Click on “SEARCH”.

  1. At the “Search Results” page, there will be filters to refine your search results.  These filters are on the left.

For example, if you click the “Owned and subscribed to by my library”, you will see only subscribed contents in the search results. Alternatively, you can also filter by Subject and Author. 

 

  1. Besides a "Basic Search", you can also conduct an 'Advanced Search'.

  1. After clicking the “Search” button, you will see a results page. Click on the title which you wish to see or click the “Read Online” button at the side of the title.

 

Downloading

  1. For DRM-free e-books, you can simply download chapters directly from the platform. Separate sign-in is not required. 

  1. Click on the “Download PDF” icon next to the chapter titles.

  1. You will see a Login screen. Click “Continue as a Guest”.

Create a Personal Account

  1. For DRM-protected e-books and full download of the DRM-free e-books, you are required to register for a Proquest Ebook Central account.  Please use your SUSS email ID as the ID when you register for the account

  1. To register, please click “Sign-up” then click “Create Account”. Please note that this account is different from your SUSS account.

  1. If you wish to bookmark or save the annotated e-books in the Bookshelf, you can also choose to create and sign-in with a personal account.
