What are the objectives of an Institutional Repository?

The main objective of an institutional repository (IR) is to collect, preserve, and disseminate the scholarly and intellectual output of SUSS. Other objectives include:
- Showcase Institutional Research: Highlight and promote the research achievements of the institution and its members.
- Increase Access and Visibility: Provide open access to scholarly works, making them freely available to a global audience and improving citation and impact.
- Preserve Academic Output: Serve as a long-term archive for digital materials, ensuring the preservation of theses, dissertations, datasets, reports, and other research artifacts.
- Facilitate Internal and External Collaboration: Enable easier discovery of research outputs for interdisciplinary collaboration and external partnerships.
- Support Open Science and Open Access Mandates: Compliance with funder requirements for open access and support broader movements like Open Science. The National Research Foundation, Singapore (NRF) requires all publications arising from its funded research to be made publicly available, no later than twelve months after the official date of publication.
