Does SUSS have a Read and Publish Agreement with Cambridge University Press?

    Answer

SUSS library worked with the Singapore Alliance of University Libraries (SAUL) to secure a “Read and Publish” Agreement with Cambridge University Press (CUP).

This Agreement enables SUSS faculty and staff to publish an unlimited number of CUP’s Gold Open Access* articles in eligible journals for Open Access publishing without incurring any Article Processing Charges (APC) during the current Agreement period (2026 - 2028).

FAQs: Free APC Waiver Process under CUP's Read and Publish Agreement

    1. Do SUSS authors submit their manuscripts first or apply for the waiver of the APC before submission?

    • Manuscripts must be submitted first. Upon acceptance, SUSS authors may then apply for an APC waiver of the article.

     2. How soon will SUSS authors receive the editorial decision after submitting a manuscript?

    • This differs by journal title at Cambridge University Press. Each journal has its own review and decision timeline, with the process managed directly by the journal editors.

    • Upon acceptance of the manuscript, SUSS authors will receive an email notification from the publisher through the RightsLink (Copyright Clearance Center's automated permission-granting service). The authors can then apply for the APC waiver at this stage.

    • SUSS Library will review the APC waiver request and authors will be notified of the outcome via RightsLink.

      3. Can SUSS authors submit the same manuscript to other publishers at the same time?

    • As with traditional journal publishing, a manuscript may be submitted to only one publisher at a time. Authors  may submit the manuscript to another publisher only after it has been rejected by the first.
